PlateSmart CEO Talks LPR and Transportation Security in Security Today
John Chigos Shares His Knowledge of How LPR Can be Used to Mitigate Cargo Theft
PlateSmart CEO John Chigos has seen LPR used to enhance security in a number of industries. When Security Today magazine asked him to write about transportation security, he enthusiastically agreed.
“The transportation industry loses billions of dollars every year to cargo theft,” Chigos said. “Fortunately, there is a technology that can serve as both a deterrent and a solution: license plate recognition. Every tractor-trailer has a license plate, and LPR can be used for everything from controlling freight yard access to helping recover freight after a crime is committed.”
