West Mahanoy Township Police implement PlateSmart technology
West Mahanoy Police implement PlateSmart state-of-the-art technology to protect their officers, as well as drivers during traffic stops. Patrolman Ray Tonkinson, explained that once the PlateSmart License Plate Reader scans a license plate, it immediately checks to see if it is expired, suspended, stolen, the subject of an Amber Alert or for a wanted person. PlateSmart’s ARES LPR records the traffic stop or violation, eliminating the arise of questions or accusations of negligence.
