LPR leader’s new high-def engine garners company’s latest honor for excellence in security products

For the third year in a row, PlateSmart Technologies has won a major award for excellence in Video Analytics. PlateSmart’s new High-Definition (HD) License Plate Recognition (LPR) engine, which enables the extraction of multiple license plates from a single camera with a wide field of view, has been chosen to receive the 2015 Govies Award in the Video Analytics category from Security Products magazine.

In addition to being the third industry award for PlateSmart’s cutting-edge LPR-based video analytic solutions, the 2015 prize marks the second consecutive Govies win for PlateSmart. The Company took home the 2014 Platinum Govies award in the same category for ARES, its software-only end-to-end LPR-based video analytics suite. ARES is rapidly making its disruptive presence felt in the security marketplace, as it is currently being used by Federal government agencies, ports, college campuses, and private businesses, just to name a few.

The HD engine is a game-changing enhancement for all of PlateSmart’s solutions, including ARES for fixed-location video surveillance systems, PlateSmart Mobile LPR for law enforcement, and PlateSmart Recovery for the Repossession and Parking Management industry. Still capable of working with standard off-the-shelf video cameras, the engine can capture license plates from a far larger field of view than was previously possible. Performing LPR on multiple lanes of traffic, for example, can now be accomplished with one camera instead of two or three. This dramatically increases Return on Investment by reducing costs and bandwidth as well as enabling a smaller environmental footprint.

“We are very gratified to accept this award,” said PlateSmart CEO John Chigos. “It is a continuing demonstration of PlateSmart’s commitment to innovation. This company has a long history of finding new and better ways to enhance the security of people everywhere and help protect them from terrorists and criminals. I am extremely proud of what we do.”

The 2015 Govies Awards will be officially presented at the ISC West Trade Show in Las Vegas, which is being held April 15th-17th. Additionally, PlateSmart will be demonstrating its groundbreaking HD LPR engine at ISC West with the cooperation of integration partner Samsung Techwin in Booth #14079.
