PlateSmart is proud to introduce the next generation of License Plate Recognition (LPR) Automation technology with the industry's highest recognition accuracy and lowest total cost of ownership.
PlateSmart’s highly modularized architecture and self-developed, wholly-owned superior LPR engine enable us to offer to the industry the lowest cost of ownership and the most accurate, fastest license plate recognition rate with customizable features to meet your needs.
PlateSmart is a software-only LPR solution developed for the standard Windows XP operating system. Out of the box, it supports up to four (4) cameras independently operated for LPR Automation. PlateSmart supports a wide array of cameras, ranging from a $50,000 high-end, professional grade camera to a $300 home-grade, Mini DV camcorder. This provides the greatest flexibility in the industry compared to competitive offers in terms of camera requirement. Operating on a standard Windows platform, plus the flexibility of working with the lowest cost cameras, as well as most of your existing video capturing equipment, PlateSmart presents a great value proposition and cost savings to you.
Here is how PlateSmart works.
PlateSmart converts video-captured images into digitized data and instantly scans for BOLO (or Be On the Look Out) database for matching license plates. The vehicle information is instantly available, and the officer does not need to communicate to the communications center to validate the plate. The officer can safely approach the vehicle knowing who they are dealing with or call for backup before making a potentially deadly mistake.
With the application running, any license plate that comes within the camera range is digitized, converted to data and displayed on the screen. In the background, PlateSmart is continuously comparing all license plates captured with the BOLO database.
PlateSmart captures data at high speed and can be running continuously hands free while on patrol. Your officer no longer has to choose between personal safety and being effective on the job. Any plate that matches the BOLO will set off an alarm at which point the officer can take appropriate action. If a match is found, the system launches an audible and visual alert. The “Respond” and “Discard” button appears on the screen giving the officer two simple choices. Touching the “Respond” button, time and date stamps the officer’s response and if connected to the station, transmits the license plate information and status. Simultaneously, the details of the BOLO are displayed on the bottom of the screen. To cancel the event, the officer simply touches the “Discard” button. The application starts searching for new license plates once again.
BOLO information in PlateSmart can be updated on any frequency. If your department is online, the new information is constantly updated as it becomes available. If you are off line while on patrol, the information will be automatically updated whenever you return to your base location. Should the officer receive new information while on patrol, and need to update the BOLO database, a simple menu allows you to type in the license plate number, select the alert code and add any comments which will also be converted to audible alerts. The second the officer hits “ENTER”, this BOLO is immediately added to the system.
PlateSmart is designed to work with any industry-standard camera system and hardware. This dramatically reduces the complexity of the implementation and makes the system affordable for deployment for virtually any size of fleet.
